Decorating ideas for dorm room

Inspired by Modern Furniture company Modani I have created using my favorite appication olioboard the following style boards for a dorm room.

Let’s dream about the dorm room! First select the furniture, lamps, decorative items and in collaboration with the decorator we create design boards. Then we proceed to the next step who is to purchase the furniture and objects that find correct application in our space.

-Modern black and white, lime, grey in combination with an open and shiny room or not: OB-dorm room

Anita is from Slovenia, lived several years in USA, Colorado, but currently living in The Netherlands. She is happily married and has two young daughters.

After finished her studies she worked in public administration, although it was not for her passion, but more to secure a stable job. While building their our own house and designing the interiors, she found herself enjoying interior designing, being enthusiastic and passionate about it. That led Anita to an idea of changing her career and start working as an interior designer for residential homes. To get more professional knowledge in a new field and decided to start interior design study. At the moment she is on the end of her studies and enjoying every moment of it.
About her passion for interior design Anita says.:
”I am very inspired by anything design related! My inspirations can be objects from the nature, peoples personal interests, well designed objects, many things! I believe that every home should meet the functional and aesthetic needs of the the homeowners, as well as express their personality, no matter the budget. Beautifully designed homes bring the quality of life to a higher level. Everyone should feel good when being at home!

Living in different countries, following different interior design styles influenced my personal interior style. Designing rooms for others always means a challenge that keeps me enthusiastic and makes my life interesting”.

OlioFriends: Lissa M. Designs

meLissa is an interior design student.

About: My passion for home decor and design started in November 2011 when I started using an application on Facebook called Dreamhouse Designers. Before that I was immersed in the business world. I have a Masters in Commerce and a Post- Grad Diploma in Marketing. Now I cannot imagine living without design in my life. I’m always inspired by the world around me and my designs showcase that. I love working with colours and textures. I would say my style is contemporary but I love vintage, cottage and coastal styles as well. And I don’t mind pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. I’m always up for a design challenge.”  Lissa M. Designs

About Christine:

Christine’s love for interiors came at about the age of ten when she finally got her own room. Rearranging knick-knacks on her bookshelf and creating wall collages with magazine cut-outs was how she kept the space interesting. It wasn’t until years later, after having created a home environment overseas, that Christine realized how important design was.

As an international teacher, she has lived in several countries and each came with a transition time.
About design Christine says: » Making a “home away from home” is how I kept myself grounded and how I felt comfort amidst the changes. I love mixing styles and finding ways to incorporate global pieces picked up from my travels. It’s not surprising that I’ve shifted into this professional realm.»

At the moment, Christine and her husband living in Laos where have doing things that they love: design, writing, yoga, life coaching. They have recently opened the first yoga studio in Luang Prabang called Mekong Yoga.
«It’s definitely a different life, but the journey has been unmistakably memorable.»

Oliofriends: Taunnie~

new-pic-of-me2

Taunnie gives to us a description about her:

“ I am an interior design student. I am not in college for the first time, that was twenty years ago. I returned to school because I have come to the realization that I can’t not decorate. I have also come to the realization that even though I am on my fourth project house with plenty of pit stops along the way for family and friends homes, I want and need to learn more.
I have loved decorating since I was a little girl. I have very fond memories of helping my Mom pick paint colors, wallpaper and carpet when she got the urge to redecorate. Now my daughter likes to help me when I get the urge to redecorate, which is all the time. My family doesn’t even blink anymore when they come home and find some of the living room furniture in the family room, some of the dinning room furniture in my bedroom. Or find something repainted. I have changed the paint in the family room so many times, even I have lost track. I have painted furniture, cabinets, light fixtures, and counter-tops, you name it. Nothing is safe. I also love to shop for fabric and make pillows, drapes, and slip covers.
I wanted to start this blog to share some tips I’ve learned in the last twenty years. Mostly I would like to share ideas and projects with people whose eyes don’t roll or glaze over when I start talking design.
So, why «Mingle Elements»? I have eclectic tastes. I have always had others hand-me-downs and I love to shop for new stuff. I shop consignment shops antique shops, garage sales, Target, Ikea, Home Goods my Mom’s basement, anywhere I think I can uncover my next treasure . I think when it comes to decorating anything goes, old with new, shiny with rough, kitschy with elegant.

My feeling is when you surround yourself with things you love and that make you happy then that’s what makes your home your favorite place to be.”

Thank you Taunnie.!
